The term “volume” refers to the distribution rather than the actual quantity of blood. In neurogenic shock, total blood volume might not undergo significant changes, but the distribution of blood throughout the body is affected.

The pooling of blood in peripheral vessels can result in inadequate oxygen and nutrient delivery to vital organs and tissues.
