Yes, you can still teach for other programs. You're not limited to teaching for Survival Med.

Q: Am I limited to a specific territory?

No, you can teach anywhere you want to.

Q: Do you pick the location?

No. Each instructor picks the location/venue where they want to hold the class. It's usually possible to find a free or low-cost location and we provide a long list of suggestions for possible locations and/or partners with space.

Q: Do I have to create my own course content?

No. We provide a complete instructor kit. You can customize it as needed for your students.

Q: Does Survival Med market my classes?

Yes. At no cost to you , we market your classes through our ongoing website, email, Facebook, Instagram, Reddit, and Google Ads campaigns. Plus, when people in your area ask us about in-person classes, we connect them with local Survival Med instructors!

Q: Do I have to promote my classes?

It's not a requirement - but it helps maximize your enrollment. To help you do this, we provide a marketing kit. It includes pre-written social media posts sample emails printable flyers a Local Outreach Guide to help you spread the word

1 - We provide all instructional materials at no cost.

2 - Instructors who wish to teach hands-on ARC/AHA-compliant CPR will need to arrange manikin access.

3 - We recommend that each instructor assemble a demonstration first aid kit tailored to common outdoor emergencies in their geographical area.

4 - We don't provide materials or supplies for use during Skills practice.

Some instructors provide assorted materials (branches, strips of cloth, etc.) for use during skills. Others simply have students bring the types of items they'd likely have on a trip.

5 - If you adapt any of the content, you'll need to consider whether you'll need to provide any additional equipment or supplies.

Self-paced online study + 1-day instructor-taught local in-person class

Meets SARTECH II, National Park Service, Boy Scouts, NICA Level 3, American Camp Association guidelines + many others!

Step 1: Online

Your students complete our self-paced online WFA or WFR Wilderness Medicine Foundation course.

Step 2: In-Person

Then, they attend your in-person local skills training. Typically 8 hours for WFA; WFR varies.

Step 3: Certification

Last, they receive their WFA or WFR certificate co-signed by Survival Med & you.
